We’re history!
Patty Palm sent me this link to the History Channel featuring our tornado. I call it “our” tornado. I guess it’s been up for a while, just didn’t know about it. I also don’t hear much from everybody — drop a line. You don’t always want to hear from me, do you???
BTW, my dear mother passed away March 5 at age 87. She was fine until that day, got sick and died. I am thankful it was so quick. I sure miss her. I feel very lucky to have had her this long.
Blast from the past
Some spring (I’m an optimist) cleaning turned up these. C’mon, now, why don’t you send in your old prom pictures to share?

Covington Cavaliers, rah, rah, rah!
From left, back row, that’s Diane Shaughnessy, ?, me not looking very happy (maybe it’s the bouffant hair), ?, and Diane Hedges. Love the bubble.
Front: Kathy Updike, Sue Kirk, ?, and Suzanne Pastor

This is my room in Oak Lawn with friends Suzanne Boyle, Bill Park, Donna Pote, and Raymond Rossel, our foreign exchange student from Switzerland.
And here’s my prom photo from 1969 at the Willowbrook Ballroom. Forget what the theme was. I made my dress. I remember it was too cool
to get your shoes dyed to match your dress! Jimmy Johansen was my date, class of ‘69. We were good friends through forensics. I always thought it was pretty funny that I never had a boyfriend in high school but went to two proms — I went with Raymond in ‘70!
Help Karen in Relay for Life
Karen Bruck is asking for our help. You remember Karen, who was in treatment for breast cancer when Class of ‘70 alumnus John died from the disease. She is committed to raising $5,000 and as team captain of Karen’s Bosom Buddies, is shooting for a team goal of $20,000. Here’s how you can help… (more…)
Christmas, 2008
C’mon, send in some of your photos, too! Here’s Sandy (Weygandt) Kaczmarski, Mom Rose, and daughter Amanda

Ron Schweinfurth — Nov 5, 1952 – Nov 5, 2008
Ronald G. Schweinfurth – Nov 5, 1952 — Nov 5, 2008
Ronald G. Schweinfurth was born in Chicago. He lived in Detroit, Mich., and Los Angeles before moving to Beaverton in about 2005. In 2000, he married Kathryn E. Ayers.
Survivors include his wife; and sons, Bret C. and Scott M.
Remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Springer and Son.
Here’s what Ron had to say just before our 30 year reunion in 2000:
Works in photographics and says he’s worked “as a stand in double for Tom Selleck.” “High school memories…hmmmm, guess the mind is the second thing to go! I am an amateur historian and have been re-enacting the Civil War for over 20 years. I’ve been enjoying the weather in Southern California for 25 years as well. Freelance photography is something I’ve dabbled in over the years.”
Ginny from the block
No one is going to want to reply because we’re putting up pictures. C’mon, get over it!
Got a note from Ginny (Samples) Bogda who is back in the Midwest. Oddly enough, she’s working at Ambitech, an engineering firm where Ed (Kaczmarski) worked a while back. And Ginny also says John Kasang works there, too.
She’s enjoying her grandchildren and I’ve still got one in the house. What was I thinking?
New web format
Since the Class of ‘70 has been a leader in the technology (we are one of the few to have a web site), I thought it was time to bring us to the world of the blog. This actually makes things much easier for me, since you all can add your own stuff very easily. As always, you can e-mail me at sanderella@mchsi.com and I can add stuff. I have fallen behind in keeping up with the class, but I do appreciate hearing from all of you. More to come soon!
