This is getting pretty depressing. We shouldn’t be reporting this kinda stuf for at least 10 or 20 years. Way too young.

Eddie Heine left this Earth on Friday, October 2 after suffering from cancer for several years. He was 54. You may know Eddie as Bill Heine’s brother. Eddie leaves behind his wife Glorianne, also an OL grad, and two sons. How sad and so young.

40 Years? No way

Posted in Reunion by smarski on the September 27, 2009

wpclassheader.jpgCongrats to the Class of ‘69 who just had their 40th reunion at Lexington House. Steve Sepessy reports on Facebook that the evening was enjoyed. Dick Biondi was the special guest.

Not sure Dick will be joining us, but we should actually start thinking about a bash for next year. We had two very well-attended and enjoyed events at the Oak Lawn VFW for less than $30 a head with a four-hour open bar and complete meal.

Do we want to continue that tradition? Other venues will be more expensive. How fancy do we want to get? Do we want to remain in Oak Lawn or nearby? Let me know what your thoughts are. This is OUR reunion!

We’re history!

OLTornadoHistoryPatty Palm sent me this link to the History Channel featuring our tornado. I call it “our” tornado. I guess it’s been up for a while, just didn’t know about it. I also don’t hear much from everybody — drop a line. You don’t always want to hear from me, do you???

BTW, my dear mother passed away March 5 at age 87. She was fine until that day, got sick and died. I am thankful it was so quick. I sure miss her. I feel very lucky to have had her this long.

Blast from the past

Some spring (I’m an optimist) cleaning turned up these. C’mon, now, why don’t you send in  your old prom pictures to share?

Covington Cavaliers, rah, rah, rah!

From left, back row, that’s Diane Shaughnessy, ?, me not looking very happy (maybe it’s the bouffant hair), ?, and Diane Hedges. Love the bubble.

This is my room in Oak Lawn with friends Suzanne Boyle, Bill Park, Donna Pote, and Raymond Rossel, our foreign exchange student from Switzerland.

And here’s my prom photo from 1969 at the Willowbrook Ballroom. Forget what the theme was. I made my dress. I remember it was too cool promto get your shoes dyed to match your dress! Jimmy Johansen was my date, class of ‘69. We were good friends through forensics. I always thought it was pretty funny that I never had a boyfriend in high school but went to two proms — I went with Raymond in ‘70!

relayforlife_logo_140Karen Bruck is asking for our help. You remember Karen, who was in treatment for breast cancer when Class of ‘70 alumnus John died from the disease. She is committed to raising $5,000 and as team captain of Karen’s Bosom Buddies, is shooting for a team goal of $20,000. Here’s how you can help… (more…)

Ronald G. Schweinfurth – Nov 5, 1952 — Nov 5, 2008

Ronald G. Schweinfurth was born in Chicago. He lived in Detroit, Mich., and Los Angeles before moving to Beaverton in about 2005. In 2000, he married Kathryn E. Ayers.
Survivors include his wife; and sons, Bret C. and Scott M.

Remembrances to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Springer and Son.

Here’s what Ron had to say just before our 30 year reunion in 2000:

Works in photographics and says he’s worked “as a stand in double for Tom Selleck.”   “High school memories…hmmmm, guess the mind is the second thing to go! I am an amateur historian and have been re-enacting the Civil War for over 20 years. I’ve been enjoying the weather in Southern California for 25 years as well. Freelance photography is something I’ve dabbled in over the years.”
